Gangs in Schools

I have 2 middle school children and 1 child in high school. I talk to them all the time about the pressures associated with school and fitting in. Gangs in our Gresham schools are a reality. Ask your kids if they know of any kids at their school who belong to a gang, I think you will be surprised with their answer.

Gresham Gangs MVL13

Here is a tag I found by MHCC. 257th off Division. There were several tags in this area I will show the others in my next blog. This was a real rundown area. You might know it. Just NW of the 7 eleven. MVL (Ma Vida Loca) or (Most Valuable Latino's) is another Sureno gang.

Gresham Gangs PRBX3

Saw quite a few tags for this Gang around the Gresham Area.
Powell Valley Road Just East of Gordon Russell Middle School. (PRB X3) I believe this stands for Puerto Rican Boyz, or Paso Robles Boyz (Sureno) or Portland Sureno's. I am still learning these tags, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Any and all information is helpful.

Gresham Gangs

I was driving my kids to school today and once again I noticed Gang Graffiti all over fences and building walls. What the heck is going on in this city where I was born and raised? At one time you could leave your front doors and your vehicles unlocked without any fear of someone illegally entering them. Not any more. This city has changed a lot since I was a young boy attending West Gresham Grade School, and Dexter McCarty Middle School. I went on to Gresham High School and Mt Hood Community College. Things have changed. Neighborhoods are run down, there are numerous apartment complexes and duplexes that were built 15 years ago, that are now in shambles. It is not a pretty site. And to top it off, now Gresham has a reputation for having some of the worst Gangs in Oregon. The Picture above was taken Just to the West of Gordon Russell Middle School. On Powell Valley Road.
